5.77 W/m 2 should not be doing damage to anything. Counter-battery lasers are exploiting a bug in the game, and when that bug is fixed, they will all disappear entirely. Agreed on flaslights and light bulbs should not be killing anything it, but I think it does make sense that a sufficiently powered laser would knock out another. Of course optics to me was always witchcraft and black magic when I took physics, so I dunno.

In my experience, it won't do anything to stock lasers, which make me suspect that large aperture lasers like our favourite 10+m deathbeams are much more fragile, though I haven't took time to test it yet.

It makes sense. Until now all the weapons in COADE had discernible vulnerabilities at larger limits, except lasers.

In such a case, our 10+m deathbeams would be effective to destroy "counter-lasers" at far greater distances than those "counter-lasers" can do anything at all in return. Part of the problem is the unrealistic 1 Mm engagement distance, though that isn't the only problem.

It's not what it used to be because of me fiddling around with rad design but its the same idea. I'm sure it could be better minmaxed. Off topic question, why are you using Pentane as fuel? How does it compare to methane/decane?

How does it compare to methane/decane? The longer the carbon chain, the lower the exhaust velocity but the higher the thrust and the denser the propellant. Methane has the highest exhaust velocity and is the least dense, RP-1 (which behaves like dodecane) has the highest thrust and greatest density. Ethane, propane, butane, pentane, ... are all inbetween these two.
