Hmm, i will have to look into this, i would not mind leaving editing in seeing as many times one might notice an error or two and want to quickly fix things. But then i suppose one could also simply blank their post. I mean it would clearly still be there so im not sure. Getting rid of deletion would help allot.

I think editing is absolutely necessary for that reason and to keep threads from blowing up thousand-post affairs, but the way other forums I've been on have handled it is to allow edits within a certain window of time, like ten or fifteen minutes after posting. I'd also like to point out that unlike deleting, if they edit their post blank the post is still there as evidence that they did say something.

With an exception for the first post in a thread, right? Because we need our SSOS and similar threads. EDIT: caiaphas - Solar System Organization of Standardization. The standards thread.

EDIT: and the way that it's worked before was that there wasn't an exception for the first post either.

Is it possible for you to make an exception for sticky posts? Might be useful to make all "hey this is what's going on in the game in handy reference form" stickies anyways.

We should definitely be able to edit a post at any point in time. I don't see a reason to stop that.

We should definitely be able to edit a post at any point in time. I don't see a reason to stop that. Well, the main argument I've heard in favor of it is that it stops people from moving the goalposts post factum, but those were boards that had a more active debate culture going on.

If we could see the original along side the edit that could help. Dont know if boards.net allows for that though.

telling argonbalt to do his job on his first day, and so forth. I will admit, I had... some serious concerns when qswitched made argonbalt a mod last night. I drafted a letter to qswitched, then decided to hold off and wait to see if Argon would rise to his new responsibilities before saying anything. His... antics earlier today almost had me go send the message as a kneejerk reaction, but I calmed down a little and am going to withold judgement... For now. Hint: Undeleting and locking the evidence pile as David367th suggested might be a good start. Undeleting posts that dV removed in said thread would be a mark of sincerity and dilligence. As for dV... I find it ironic that argonbalt initially had an instant reaction ruling against me (cause 'more ppl complained about you first = guilty', amirite?) but dV automatically assumed SEXISM RACISM OPPRESHUN!111 and repeatedly lashed out at our new moderator. Once David called him out on it, though, and explained Argon is hardly a friend of mine, he immediately changed his tune - but not without half the thread noticing he deleted stacks of posts flaming Argon as some kind of tyrant. LOL. newageofpowerWhy are you still bringing my name up in conversation? Tisk tisk. Why are you so in love with me? Why am I always in your thoughts? I told you already I'm not that kind of guy. Please I know it must pain you but you must forget me.

deltav newageofpower may be mentioning you because of 7 or more PMs you sent when s/he didn't want to talk to you (no means no) deltav newageofpower may be mentioning you because you deleted stacks of posts flamming argonbalt rather then own up to an honest mistake deltav newageofpower may be mentioning you because you two have been dicks to each other in the past deltav doesn't take a genuis to find thoses three things out so I am sure newageofpower has more reasons to dislike you more then the three I mentioned

deltav, would you just stop? It seems like you're stalking his posts and looking for any reason to try and continue the argument. Just block him if you can't help but reply. If you're worried about him bad-mouthing you and being unable to defend yourself, then know that you continuing the argument damages your reputation more than newageofpower ever could.
