So there have been a number of people asking for a forum moderator for a while. This is a good idea, since I'm not on this forum as often as others, and when I am a lot of times it is just to read all the threads from the suggestions or technical reports forums. With that in mind, I have made argonbalt a moderator for the forum. argonbalt has been here since the Children of a Dead Earth beta, and frequents the forums daily. In addition, some have been requesting a code of conduct. I think a short list would also be helpful, too, so here it is. Code of Conduct - Be Civil - Don't be a dick. No insults, personal attacks, harassment, defamation.
- Stay on Topic - Keep memes and off topic posts to the General Discussion board.
- No Spamming or Trolling - Avoid picking fights, repeating the same phrases/threads, abusing the 'report post' feature, or posting ads.
- Do Not Post Personal Information of Others
And please welcome argonbalt as your new moderator!

As a small Addendum, Arguments can get pretty heated, but i am certainly not one to start punishing people for swearing or being a little spicy. That being said good arguments (especially on Sci-Fi forums) mainly come from Logos above all else. Good facts and sources back up arguments a hell of a lot better than "Fug u u r rong". This leads me to the second thing i would like to mention which is that yes, while COADE is a very in depth Sim/Game not everyone here is absolutely versed in all fields of engineering and science. Even if one is experienced everyone probably started with some baby level of star wars ships going PEW PEW at each other. So if anyone needs clarification or more on a subject help em out, point em towards www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/ so they can find the answers (convenient or otherwise). Everyone needs a certain amount of science legwork to get up to COADE's fairly demanding skill requirements. If you are like me than i hope you too would see that branching out and helping with that legwork will help bring more people in which means a bigger community with more players and also more $$$ to help out Qswitched and help develop and further the game. Lastly while i do try to read as many threads as possible(as i find this stuff very interesting) I obviously do have other priorities and a life off forum. So if something nutzo race war is happening buried somewhere in the science threads per say and i miss it, please do bring it to me so i can help. Looking forward to helping out and hopefully things stay quiet everyone has so far done a pretty good job at maintaining a high level of public discourse.

I like how I could make a space opera based out of this little situation we have in our forums.
Anyways, congratulations.

I am requesting an open (public) moderation cycle qswitched . It is in my belief that argonbalt 's judgement has been hasty. EDIT: You changed my signature?!? What are you doing? What does this have to do with moderation? EDIT2: You just deleted a whole thread full of evidence? EDIT3: I don't even...

I agree, locking the thread would have been better than removing it. It would've best served as a reminder. Also newageofpower I think the board is automatically converting senpai~ to my hood gangster idol~ or I could just be seeing things.

I do have a project due in a few hours and an exam, so i wanted to quickly and concisely rap up this incedant as efficiently as possible.
EDIT: You changed my signature?!? What are you doing? What does this have to do with moderation?
It was merely a numerous test when i was going through the features it should be changed back now
EDIT2: You just deleted a whole thread full of evidence?
Evidence? The evidence is already readily apparent throughout half a dozen threads where both you and DeltaV's arguments readily remain. In regards to the thread i already had several forum members suggest removing it and it was basically three pages of drama. HOWEVER i will be starting a SHERIFF'S OFFICE thread later tonight where any future forum inter-user issues can be discussed and also held in open cycle towards moderation. If you really feel the need to press an issue we can do so there and any other forum members may participate, i had hoped to do this yesterday but fell asleep in my history textbook.
EDIT3: I don't even...

The SHERIFF's OFFICE thread later on we will be meeting for the first ever SPACE COURT. We will first be voting on manner of reaching verdict, then on verdict by extension. Further details and process will be stipulated. Hopefully an open and democratic moderation approved by the forum members can concisely resolve this issue.

To have a SPACE COURT you need... 1. Have Rules established beforehand 2. Impartial Judges/Jury 3. Clear Punishments.
We on COADE Board have none of that. This SPACE COURT is nothing but a sham. At best it will be MOB RULE where members simply vote for their friends, and older more senior members use their power against new members.
At worst will be an even worse situation than before, where bullys will now have the backing of some kind of official Board apparatus.
This is not a good start.

No we're not censoring, that can't happen on a public forum. We need clear and concise rules and punishments. Censoring people we don't like won't be the best start, even if we have already see it happen. It should be a generic three warnings then muted for a time. It works on other boards, we don't need anything fancy here. Edit: Though I agree with deltav, where a "Space Court" would look only like People's Court and be a show.

But seeing as open moderation was suggested, and i am a fan of such things, i see a court as appropriate. And as for DeltaV, all of: 1. Have Rules established beforehand 2. Impartial Judges/Jury 3. Clear Punishments. Will be extrapolated upon. Senior members will receive the same damn treatment as junior members, if anything they should know best the means and manners of a forum. And i can assure you i have no major biases towards or against anyone here. And Delta, if you insist on posting masses of messages you are edging ever closer to your own infraction, i have asked you kindly to wait for the SPACE COURT session and advise you do so peacefully.

Can I just ask real quick why we keep using SPACE COURT in caps?

Because it is a court in space, what a phenomenally entertaining idea, it should be emphasised. Also mainly to highlight it in quick reply mode.

I said "censure" not censor. cen·sure ˈsen(t)SHər/ verb 1.express severe disapproval of (someone or something), typically in a formal statement. "a judge was censured in 1983 for a variety of types of injudicious conduct" noun 1.the expression of formal disapproval. "angry delegates offered a resolution of censure against the offenders"

I have already done that, Newageofpower's infraction level is 33% or roughly speaking, one out of three strikes on his archived file.
