For the newcomers who haven't seen it yet, and to our older members who may have missed it. Here it is:
I must say, the needle cluster round vs lasers is rather prescient given how the laser vs missile argument has evolved in CoaDE.

I rather doubt that needles would be destroyer that fast, but I could be wrong.

I rather doubt that needles would be destroyer that fast, but I could be wrong. It would depend on their composition and the laser output. Through I suspect the artist has taken some liberties in depicting some of the events shown.

I honestly think qswitched should just give in and slap a flat 50% efficiency rating on the shaped charges, because everything else is basically ready.

Nah, laser beams are visible! Would you understand what is going on with the shrapnel if the lasers aren't visible?

Nah, laser beams are visible! Would you understand what is going on with the shrapnel if the lasers aren't visible? Let's be real here, it was super obvious what was going on with the weapon in War of the Worlds to people of the 1890s. It's super obvious what is going on with a gun despite bullets not being that visible. If you show what looks like a spotlight and then show what looks like a target being lit up it's going to be obvious.

I want those turrets more than Orion.

I want those turrets more than Orion. Tangential turrets to maximize forward firepower? You said it.

Thin, highly angular ships with tangential turrets and spinal cannons are probably the best possible design. The loss in volume is more than made up for by the armor multiplication.

There are some weird things in this video... apart from the music, that is. - Laser attacking turret seems to stop the ship from spinning. I guess that's only a concession to having a camera follow it without the stars spinnning and incuding dizziness in the viewer, but you never know what authors are thinking. - Those missile turrets look all kinds of wrong (small/low capcity with no apparent reload mechanism, easily shot off), and so is the idea of even having a turret for missiles at all that isn't for a coilgun shooting them out at 20km/s. Let's be real here, it was super obvious what was going on with the weapon in War of the Worlds to people of the 1890s. It's super obvious what is going on with a gun despite bullets not being that visible. If you show what looks like a spotlight and then show what looks like a target being lit up it's going to be obvious. Never underestimate people's capacity for stupidity. And regardless guns have their own coconut effects going on which are no more realistic than visible laser beams... not that I'm trying to support the use of these effects, mind.
