We can still dream. Engagement ranges of stock vessels differ a lot from the 1 Mm max range that was later introduced. Qswitched has been a real sport and we've seen this game grow.

We can still to pseudo-arranged PvP with the Ai vs Ai feature. Where both sides have a budget (like standard missions) and choose the AI controller for their fleet.

To be speculative, he did say is to answer the question will. He might mean to implement it later on, or when there's a sequel?

We can still to pseudo-arranged PvP with the Ai vs Ai feature. Where both sides have a budget (like standard missions) and choose the AI controller for their fleet. We could do with custom AI sets for that, as well as an improved AI to base those on. The former can be modded, but by the latter I mean things like how the AI is currently incapable of fighting across large distances and/or under heavy gravity, and I don't know if we can change much about that right now without someone coding more parameters. I hope for the future we can balance scenarios based on power and size budgets as well as mass and cost. I'm mainly thinking of 'for fun' matches like sub-kW conventional cannon fights, but you could have a situation in a war where one side loses access to fissiles or large shipyard facilities.

I do not expect Multiplayer to make an appearance in CoaDE due to the technical complexity of coding it.
The way I see it is CoaDE's final form will be single player, with all the reality breaking bugs fixed and a wide assortment of systems modeled. CoaDE is going to be about building realistic warships and coming up with the basic doctrine of how they fight one another.
Then years and years down the line CoaDE 2: Solar War comes along with all those polished design and modeling systems ready to go out of the box. The big deals will be Multiplayer and Tactical AI Behaviors.

I'd be happy with a Steam Workshop integrated "download & duel" feauture.

like i don't know... Aliens? The problem with aliens is that a battle would look like a small Homo Habilis tribe versus the Soviet Union at its height. That is, not a battle. The most believable account of an Alien Invasion I have read is Childhood's End, aka a realistic XCOM 2 written by a collaborator. To spoil it: Humankind never had a shadow of a chance to resist, the aliens are so overwhelmingly powerful that the few Resistance movements there are are totally irrelevant (and effortlessly dispatched) and their plan of having their Unseen Overlord eat the Earth and every single one of its inhabitants goes without a hitch. (Warning: Clarke was believer in Scientism, so a few early references may bother sane people)

Well, it would be nice to have something integrated into the game where you can just select ships from the community, without having to manipulate the files and such.

Yes, but not gratuitous. And scientifically accurate.

It doesn't shut off the guidance on its nuclear missiles and detonate them simultaneously to avoid flares and predetonation. It doesn't set guns that fire guided shells to ignore range. It doesn't set ignore range at 10 seconds out on high-velocity drone intercepts. And as soon as the AI is improved or the gunnery algorithms are fixed, humans will come up with new tactics that it can't keep up with.

Only if we can mod multiplayer...
If it's about CoaDE 2, I would like to see a full-scale interstellar warfare (NOT with aliens!), with more black boxed, but plausible techs such as powerful NTRs, fusion drives or antimatter drives. Possible multiplayer features would mainly be a duel, with ships spawning in random relative velocity around random objects. Check your internet connection before performing any actions, and spamming objects can be a weapon of BSOD.
