Your link, it is broken. Also, of the Carmen Miranda's Ghost series, this one is probably the most relevant for Children of a Dead Earth:

Thanks folks. Good to have a board full of people with some of the same ruts worn in their brains. I was looking for "Dawson's Christian" the other day but couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the song. acatalepsy's got a good pick too- Bomber suits the campaign all too well.

In the same sort of musical style, but more humorous - especially Rocket to the Moon and Space Opera are space-themed.

It's not often you see a song about Special Relativity Believe it or not, there is a song in Russian about humanity (or post-humanity) trying to postpone the heat death of the universe by splitting red dwarfs into brown dwarfs to build Dyson spheres around them and colliding gas giants for the same purpose. The lyrics is rather poetical.

More from Julia Ecklar... though I am not sure why you would make wings out of tungsten, tungsten is way too heavy!

Edit: there are no English subtitles, but there is a french version.

Not as old a song as some here, but it contains some certainly old audio clips.
The song is basically a commentary on humanity and its history, from the point of view of extraterrestrials watching the first human interstellar ship.

I think Das boot might have one of the most appropriate soundtracks for a hard sci fi space sim, the sheer difference between the brooding waiting and strategy and the sudden energy of combat.
Also this is great but pretty obvious a choice.

Missing from this page: an actual music video from space, sung by an astronaut. Let's fix that, shall we?
