Unless there's something hard coded to the physics of the damage model I'd suggest a box to tick that would allow polygonal non-rounded designs in the ship editor.
Looking at the layout of structural members on some of the hulls gave me ideas about armor angling. With some of the effective armor material schemes we have available I think it would have *very* interesting opportunities.
As we've seen in some of the design threads the tapered cylinder is not the only ideal shape for a combat spacecraft. We've made saucers, broadsides, and needle ships. The possibilities for drones are even greater, especially the sub-capital drones.
It may even allow for easier implimenting of traditional turres with the flat planes.

Oh, I have one more thing to suggest.
Put a 'Make ammo' button when you are browsing a page for your guns and launcher.
So you don't need to make ammo and then painstakingly tried to find your guns and launcher from the list.

Some more information displayed in the module builder about the reactions going on inside nuclear bombs would be lovely, temperature and pressure in particular.
