I recently bought Children of a Dead Earth on Steam. My system is: Windows 10 Core2Quad AMD RX580+ 8GB RAM When I launched the game for first time, it installed redistributables and then nothing seemed to happen. On subsequent attempts to start the game, I checked the task manager and "CDE (32 bit)" using some 6MB of RAM shows up for about half a second then dissappears. No log or debug files are generated either in game directory or in windows user directory. I tried checking CDE.exe with Dependencies.exe and found nothing missing. Running as Administrator or in compatibility mode did not help. I eventually gave up and requested a refund from Steam. I really want to play the game - please, help.

No log or debug files are generated either in game directory or in windows user directory. I don't know the exact directory structure on W10, but on W7 there should be something in:
%SystemDrive%\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\CDE\Crashes

I know where it is supposed to be - there is no CDE directory in my %SystemDrive%\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming.

My Windows did updating and restarting today and apparently the game now works. I suppose there was some kind of issue caused by an update being in progress.

Have fun playing, then!
