Hi!
I was wondering what makes weapons have different ranges on different ships and what stat is that?
the base gunshiff gets 40km on the same railgun that my own ship gets 11km for ?
Thank you in advice!

Thank you in advice! That is pretty strange, are you sure it is the same weapon?, some guns can have identical power and calibre but be several orders of magnitude more powerful.

I don't know exactly know how the math works, but its about bullet speed and accuracy. It make sense since in space there is no range. Put it that way,a gun, if it fire fast enough, could shoot at mars from earth orbit. The other think to conciser is accuracy, can you hit mars? Now, prediction on target position is getting in the way when shooting at stuff that far...
Anyway, faster and more accurate bullets will raise the range ingame. You can trick it by having a 250km platform (missile or laser) within the same fleet. That will raise it by default to the maximum value and then you can set your gun to ignore maximum range.

Thank you in advice! A weapon has different ranges depending on how big the target is, so if you're testing against different targets, that may be influencing your results.

Here is a example
There are 3 guns of the same type on there, and they all have different ranges on different targets xD
I might be missing something but if I pit both ships against each other the player controlled one without the firing regardless of range will have more range.
There are also the base weaponry of the game.
Edit: Oh? so bigger targets are easier to hit then.
