I've been having a good time with this game, but there's one thing that's bugging me: I haven't found a way to save the game during a mission, so if something goes wrong (and there's quite a bit of luck involved in this game) I have to start from the beginning. For example, in the third mission (Predatory Opportunism) I've had to restart multiple times because the drones aren't doing enough damage. I could imagine the lack of a save feature could get frustrating when the missions get harder.
Any help?

Sometimes my laser tears through all the drones at double normal range. Sometimes it does nothing and the drones tear me to shreds. Sometimes my ship refuses to follow orders and won't turn broadside or start burning. Sometimes the AI enemy derps just as hard and what worked on it one time because it let you doesn't work the next time because it suddenly got smarter.
But even without all of those problems, save during missions is still a necessary feature in current video games.

boomertiroagree with everything you said My problem with the drones in predatory opportunism was that I didn't set them to broadside mode, so most of them couldn't fire. But that would have been easier to figure out with a quicksave feature, since I would not have had to play the whole mission again everytime to get to the combat! But I can also see the argument against saving: It raises the stakes (more excitement), and prevents players ruining the game for themselves through compulsive savescumming. I think a good compromise position would be to have an iron man camgaign mode with no saving for the advanced players (like in xcom), but also allow new players who are learning the ropes the extra convenience of saving during missions. But still, in spite of all my complaining I've been having a blast. Just retook Ceres and unlocked ship design.

I don't know if it's necessary, it's not like each mission is all that long.

Please add a quick save feature. The game crashes way too often to not have one. Sometimes it stops responding while trying to calculate an intercept. It may also CTD when exiting a battle.
Having to redo stuff because of a crash is not 'exciting' at all.

Ok, I just spent 2 hours on one of the final mission and the game crashed on me just as i killed the last enemy ship. Fix this quick/auto save thing, seriously!

Confirming that I get annoying crashes in the missions and saving would save me from smashing up my conputer with my lightsaber.
