Wanting to use UHMWPE fibre armour for my ships, I wondered about cheaper alternatives, perhaps an HPDE fibre. I also wanted a lighter spall liner than spider silk or nitrile rubber, and eventually found this very low density rubber. Apart from being so light, it's relatively strong with high thermal stability and resistance to sunlight, but has very poor chemical resistance, being dissolved by most kinds of petrochemicals and acids. Ingame cost is 16.4c/kg.
- Refraction from polyethylene. Material is about 50–75% ethylene by weight. - Shear modulus had to be raised just above .00215 for it to the game to load it correctly. - Specific heat and thermal conductivity are for similar terpolymer EPDM. - No electrical properties found.
