I'd like to try testing fighter jets everywhere, myself -- even if it means finding out it doesn't actually fly. But if I had to pick one, current Earth (before it died) is appealing.

The development of lasers in the last few years is just amazing, Lockheed Martin's 1200kg 300kW (battery included) laser, 60kW vehicle mounted 40% Fiber lasers, freaking lazers of Apache attack helicopters. And even a new generation of Airborne anti-ICBM lasers.

Prediction: the laser will be a marvel of technology, with extremely impressive stats. It will also be hideously costly because some shmuk decided that it should be able to switch wavelengths, will endure even costlier overruns, be a decade late and won't work one day per week because of patch Tuesday. They will still manage to sell it to half the world.
