I was simply typing a response to someone's comment on a thread, and I didn't even click on any ad, but the page suddenly redirected me to a random ad site with the message that "your computer may have pornographic images installed on it, call this number..."
I hope that this is not going to be a problem in the future.
Be careful guys...

Warning noted, but that's rather unusual though.

Sounds like a "drive by download" type of infected Ad.

Sounds like a "drive by download" type of infected Ad. It seems to be more like Maladvertising. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MalvertisingStill, it only redirected me to a stupid page on the internet and I'm pretty sure it didn't download anything to my computer

Better question, why aren't you using some type of adblocker with the whole added anti-everything suite already?

I must have turned it off for some reason. As useful as an ad blocker is, sites need ad revenue in order to exist if they aren't using something like patreon. As a result I've turned it off on this site, and on YouTube. This site for keeping it running for free (apparently) YouTube because they (content makers) get paid based on ads.

I dont mind watching them as they generate revenue for the contributors and I trust youtube not to allow malicious advertisements. But I am not sure about this site. this site, which probably takes all of the ad revenue and doesn't share with Qswitched (correct me if I'm wrong)

What do you care if some giga conglomerate has a few pennies less because you didn't watch their ads? And even if they aren't some monopoly, you can usually support them in a much better way. Especially Google. They make plenty of cash dolla everywhere else. Stop perpetuating this anti-consumer bollocks. Especially on sites with outwardly malicious ads which don't really care if they're taken down or not, like, for example, boards.net.

I dont have any actual proof that Boards.net actually caused this. Although it could have been their fault, its most likely the advertisement. Also, turning off the adblock does give money to the servers that run the place. Admiral obvious was just stating the obvious, and you don't need to be so rude to him. also, you tube has not made a profit for google yet and the only reason they keep it up is that its such a big part of their engine that literally millions of people use it, and having your adblock off on youtube doesnt affect you.

You can get rid of the randomized banner by disabling javascript. I don't think it hurts any relevant functionality either, so you don't lose anything. nevermind it breaks spoiler tags

Why am I more angry about the fact that someone is wasting our time than that they are trying to give us viruses
