It emerged from a talk about radiator damage. zuthal mentioned that sodium coolant in radiators (the one most of us use), with high temperature and pressure, will explode leak off at high speed once the radiator get shot. I got an idea and went on to make a poster related to that. Then, Tronzoid came and suggested me to tell matterbeam . But I decided to show off the picture, because why not? It'd be nice if we have a video series explaining about sci&tech subjects related to CDE, and also to discuss about what is currently missing from the game.

Sounds like a good way of promoting CDE. Would they be compact information videos or something more akin to Isaac arrthur?

I think it should be along the lines of Kurzgesagt simple but explanatory visuals showing off concepts and how stuff works.

Nice idea, but don't limit it to COADE. I think more general scifi concepts, striving for harder realism, might be more interesting. Use stock footage from movies, anime and other works, and use COADE to fill in the realism gaps. Short videos make for light work - I don't think you're aiming to maximize ad revenue, so making videos under 10 minutes should not be a problem.. As for the specific question about sodium radiators, here's the vapor pressure curves for common elements: www.powerstream.com/z/vapor-press2-big.pngLook for Na. At 1000K, the vapor pressure is just under 1 atm. That means a radiator using sodium loops at 1000K is pressurized to 1 atm at a minimum. I cannot find any phase diagram for sodium that goes to its boiling point, so I don't know if the sodium will flash-vaporize if exposed to vacuum at 1000K.

If we aim for more general SF concepts, it'd probably get renamed, though. Republic of Free People's Military Class Also, the video might be able to help CDE improves by talking about things in it. When the thing exist in the game, the video should discuss about how realistic it actually is, and how can it improves. If not, provide the ideas

Science communication is kinda my thing.

Yes, A video series would spread word about this game while also SHOVING INFOMATION DOWN UNSUSPECTING PEOPLES THROATS explaining real life concepts and warship design spaceship design as a whole.

Well, I was thinking you could make a post on Tough SF about it, but still, we would like you and some other to do the science. Maybe have matterbeam research + write the script or just use what's written on the Tough SF blog, somebody read&record it and make it into a video. Another person find appropriate pics and videos and include them into the video. Finally, post the video on Tough SF.

Yes. A lot of work for me! I'd be willing to review and provide suggestions to the script while it is written, but this will be Cosmogator's project.

If you now want to make a video series based on matterbeams blogs I recommend using a topic along the lines of something like the casaba howitzer to attract attention for the start.
