COADE claims to be as scientifically accurate as possible. I've played the game and read the blog, but there are a few relatively obvious questions that aren't addressed anywhere to my knowledge:
The spacecraft in COADE are essentially armoured ice-cream cones... how do you get into them? The bottom? Are there hidden hatches in the armour?*
Why do the spacecraft have flat fronts instead of an acute and deflective point, making this the weakest area instead of the strongest area?
Why do the ships have to orient themselves sideways when attacking, instead of having front-facing weapons?
COADE claims nothing is unrealistic for "aesthetics", but shouldn't the radiators and tracers glow invisibly, then?
Stock ships are trash. Most player ships (that are armored, at least, since many follow apophys's doctrine - "Armor is Heresy") use extremely acute cones to increase deflection and effective armor. Radiators glow bright if they run hot; crew module radiators run cold and do not give off light. However, a 2500k radiator that is hotter than most material melting points will glow, the same way a piece of metal at 2500k will glow.
AI handling of ship facing is retarded. Most players will manually orient their ships with main weapons facing forwards.
Any other questions?

Have you ever seen hot metal? Or at least heard of lava: that shit glows visibly and it's at less than 1500 K, with most in game radiators being past 2000 K

There are many unrealistic elements in CoaDE, which player designs make extremely evident. However, the absence of airlocks and other small details on the ships is not a major problem compared to weightless structure, thousands of unshielded nuclear reactors resting just fine alongside crew modules and many others. CoaDE is still the most realistic space sim compared to others and one of my favorite games, but its simulation have very clear limitations most people here are aware of by now.
Regarding ship orientation, I think there is a separate command to point the nose towards the enemy. Even without it, what AI considers "broadside" depends on weapons layout. Then you will run into the problem that oftentimes AI can't properly point fixed spinal mounted weapons at the enemy. AI is relatively simple in CoaDE; it is no wonder it doesn't know how to pilot all the ships that players create with different tactics in mind. And that leads to another problem: you need to test your designs against other players designs, but both have to be controlled manually.

Ah, I didn't think to check the actual temperature of the radiators.
