of coruse now its like the second world war, this MNM (Ms and Ns are really similer to each other) has all the cool ships, the RFP navy has like 30 times the number of hulls in active service and thousands of older ship ready to be pressed back into service Guess I'll put it in an idea topic later.

Okay, I have fixed EVERY SINGLE NUKE I have annnd they have way lower nuclear explosiveness than I liked. :c But well, still usable and probably logical this time. Besides that, I also tried blast launcher with large object to see if it can do it somewhat better than powered launcher. The answer was no. The blast launcher I made out of spider silk of all thing (because boron filament apparently fail when it was put in large scale) weighed 7 times heavier than the 10 MW powered launcher version and costed 7 millions of solid spider silk. I have my suspicion that the actual blast launcher is a lot lighter, but since the payload is cylindrical and the launcher is cuboid, the corner might have been filled up with solid block instead. So essentially, we might need to...literally cut corner for blast launcher for it to be lighter. Still, it is cool to launch my 350 tons heavy assault drone at 100 meter per second instantaneously. Did you try UHMPE fiber? I find that it's more mass efficient than boron fiber but slightly more costly. I haven't really figured out what makes a good launcher armor yet. It's definitely not yield strength only.

For small payloads boron fiber is better than spider silk but this changes for larger payloads (I haven't tried UHMPE fiber yet).

UHMWPE fiber was one of the material I tested last night and it fails harder than boron fiber and cost more than a Gunship.

dragonkid11 a while ago you mentioned that your nukes seem less powerful than before the update... do you per chance use a hard detonation range, even if minimal like 10cm? I had a problem today exactly with that... my nukes were mysteriously not leaving a significant impression on properly armored targets and it turned out that zero hard detonation range solved it.

why would you have a hard range with a nuke?

Had problems before with missiles slamming in to the ship before detonating. This was a few updates ago. Back then a minimal hard detonation range like a few cm solved it. Now it seems to be causing another problem.

So, the more I used blast launcher, the more I find comparison of it to powered launcher wrong.
Yes, powered launcher is way lighter, cheaper in some heavy case.
But the point of blast launcher isn't just about using it as a one shot launcher. It's to use it as a one shot launcher in combat.
Blast launcher has one key advantage over powered launcher, projectile acceleration.
At max, the projectile could be accelerated to 4.5 kmps, effectively increasing its kinetic energy by a huge load.
In fact, comparing a blast launcher to a payload launching conventional cannon would be a better comparison of efficiency and weight.
Though it's advisable to not push that to the max and just keep it to 4 kmps or 2-3 kmps for heavier stuff.
I put my micromissile into a 4 kmps blast launcher and it basically shredded the enemy vessel when it reached max speed after burning most of its fuel.
Really, this velocity advantage is quite amazing, the lack of need for power is just a bonus.
Now...it would be reallyyyy nice if we can put blast launcher onto a turret form.

Turret or maybe a retractable pod, facing forward. It will be nice not to have to sacrifice the pointy nose of the ship. Also other major advantage is the rate of fire. Although I would like them to spread out a bit after they are launched... I usually lose them in groups when one of them is blown up by a laser.

Turret blast launchers would be so cool..... Ultralight PDW.
