Btw it would be nice to see some tournament entries. Still working on mine. Tests on Luna have consistently shown that the greatest danger to my fleet is its suicidal AI, crashing everything into the moon. And drones don't work very well, because they are limited to only 25 per flight at best, and they get deleted after winning an engagement (the AI also appears to crash them more often than it does for capitals).

I have an entry mostly ready, but it'll take me a few more days to prepend "treptoplax" to all the module names to ensure no namespace collisions. I mostly expect to get crushed (my tiny gun drones are a terror against stock ships, but...) but hey, I've optimized it as far as I can with current data and *somebody* has to be the early round cannon fodder. Are there clear rules on when combats will be terminated (that is, when to hit the "back" button)? Also; could the 200 drone/missile rule be ignored for drones/missiles associated with launchers that have neither "launch at shots" or "launch at ships" enabled? Since those would only fire on the strategic map in relatively small numbers, I don't think there's any lag threat from them, but I could squeeze in a few hundred tiny nukes just to spam at incoming drones/missiles on the strategic map. Or am I missing something here?

Isn't there an stock AI option using flights of 50 drones? Edit: my mistake, that's for missiles. I have an entry coming too. It's slow progress to get it into fighting form -- primarily working around the AI. The ship points forward now when starting an engagement... half the time. About a quarter of the time, engagement starts at about 10 km despite both sides having long range weapons. Believe it or not, I'm fine with the unpredictability. It might unintentionally model the chaos of war. We might need to run the fight a few times though to weed out the outliers.. maybe 10 rounds?

I can offer to take the designs too and claim I made them, to host the tournament via YouTube Recordings. do you have any streaming software. cause then we could use twitch to stream the tournament. And I'm pretty sure that's what every esports uses

Maybe the long-range weapons are out of ammo or otherwise disabled? 10 rounds sounds really slow to me, but my PC is a potato and I tend to pause combat frequently to look around so maybe I'm an outlier there. I expect there'll be some lessons learned about how to run one of these, so curious as I am I'm not too hung up on what the results actually end up being.

Hello, been lurking around here for awhile and joined up just for this. Wanted to ask what time of day you think you'll run the tournament? My schedule is a bit weird on Saturdays.

And I'm pretty sure that's what every esports uses I do have streaming software. OBS. I don't have an active Twitch account. I do have a YouTube account (YouTube does streaming too). However due to my insanely varied work schedule, I probably can't stream.

I made a script for this, you can try it online (fixed). Just replace the placeholders in "input" and "arguments" with your own values. The input must be < 128KB, so don't dump all your designs there. And tell me if it works, I have only checked a sample output without importing in-game.

I hope the stream will be recorded; I don't watch live stuff.

I hope the stream will be recorded; I don't watch live stuff. This. Which is why I proposed to record each trial/contest seperately off stream. You need to pay for a "partnership" with twitch in order to have your streams recorded by them and made available as a VOD.

And tell me if it works, I have only checked a sample output without importing in-game. Oh, good idea. I think not quite there yet. I didn't try to reload the modified file yet, but: It renames all the ships and modules. (Yay.) However, it doesn't then change any references to those in CraftBlueprint stanzas. I think it'll need to cache the original names in an array so it knows which to rename again (as opposed to stock modules, which don't need the reference changed) during blueprints. And a flag to track if it's in a Blueprint Stanza as opposed to some other... I might take a shot at that and PM you an update this weekend if you haven't made another pass yourself before then. Edit: OK, read the code more carefully and it's trying to do the right thing but for some reason 'modules' variable is never set to 1 as intended. There's still a bug in that it will try to rename stock modules in blueprints, which is wrong I think. Unless I got something wrong trying to run it locally on this Mac? Well, I'll look a little more carefully and see if I can figure it out.

That was my original plan. sure. Why not use YouTube to record. Even though the platform is not capable of allowing new channels to grow. Unlike twitch. I'm fine with YouTube tho
