I've (temporarily) got what can work as an entry to the "patrol boat" category. Precisely 5 Mc and 977 Tons. Not really min-maxed, but it qualifies. It's surprisingly hard to make a ship sandblaster and flak (and a little laser) retardant without breaking the bank.

I don't get this design: broadside-optimized radiators but symetric gun layout, full armor. Your radiators are very vulnerable in a nose forward engagement, and most of your guns are useless broadside? Also, you don't meet the delta-v budget of 5km/s.

Additionally, many of your armor material choices are sub-optimal.

Your radiators are very vulnerable in a nose forward engagement, and most of your guns are useless broadside? Also, you don't meet the delta-v budget of 5km/s. I had it setup for broadside initally, but then found that the conventional guns are too close together (they all blow up at once when struck and knock the top off the ship) so I spaced them out a bit by mounting them on each side of the ship. The radiators are as they are to keep the cost down. I can't decide wether or not to do broadside, or nose forward. Mostly because I had a 35 MW sand coil that is quite pricy that isn't on this current design. I've also changed the engine fuel ratio, so it's got 5.17 km/s of deltaV. Beta Titanium is superior to regular titanium in every way For the longest time since adding mods, I thought Beta Titanium was modded...

A methane NTR can get you ~30% more DeltaV for the same mass, and you can overcome the crew requirement by using less engines.

New Rule: all the components used in your ship, as well as the ship itself should be prefixed by your forum name.
So for myself, a laser component on the ship I submit should be called "goduranus 50MW drone laser" While the ship itself would be called "goduranus tournament cruiser"
This is because duplicate named components will crash the game during import, (ie, a Tournament Cruiser from me and a Tournament Cruiser from someone else together will cause the game to crash) so let's just add our names to the components to save the tournament host the troubles of going through our files to find name conflicts.

btw do you think we should make a discord for this
edit: im thinking this because we should probably make an option to make fleet entries unknown to everyone but the match host, as this adds an element of gameplay, and it also means people dont change fleets before the tournament begins to try to counter each other. we would probably need a discord server for that

it looks like activity has died down in this thread. do you still want this tournament to happen? Im ok for you to say no

I think it should happen. Just my computer is probably not good enough (and I dont have the time)
